Howdy folks,

The Steering Committee has been aware of this for some time but it is
time now for me to announce to the general membership that I will soon
be relocating outside of North Carolina. Since I will be unable to
fulfill my responsibilities as Vice Chairman any longer, the SC will be
setting up a special election to fill the vacant slot. I will be at
the January meeting, but may or may not be gone by the February meeting.

I've been an active member of TriLUG for about 5 years now, and I have
seen a lot of people come and go. I'm convinced that TriLUG is a
better organization today than it was 5 years ago, and we have some
really great people who are currently active. I'm sure that the LUG
will continue to grow and improve with the fine people we have to pull
from to fill the open slot.

I'm leaving the area with great reluctance and as a last resort. I'm
moving to a small flat just outside of Philadelphia and won't have room
for all of the computer stuff that I've accumulated. I have in my
crawlspace right now roughly 100 older MacIntosh machines. The older
ones are LC's, with a good mix all the way up to Power Mac 5400 models.
I need to get rid of them all. $100 takes them all. Yes, there is a
lot of crap in there. But the Power Macs are pretty useful. Lots of
monitors, keyboards, mice. The catch is you have to take it ALL. A
pickup truck won't do it. You will need a big box truck to get them
all. I have an ATV with trailer that will get them from the crawlspace
to the truck to minimize the carrying needed. I've seen Debian running
on some of these boxes so this could be your chance for a huge number
of Linux-capable boxes. I have one of the 5400's that I plan on
keeping upstairs, and it runs Mac OS 9 like a champ. My wife wrote
half her book on that computer. That's the only one of the lot that I
plan on keeping.

My Sun collection is going to be split up. I have half a dozen
machines that I've fixed up and want to take with me. The rest I have
offered to a local open source project. If they don't accept the
donation, I'll put them up for sale. They run several distros of Linux
really nicely, as well as OpenBSD and NetBSD.

I've got some other hardware here too. Old VAX, HP PA-RISC box, some
terminals. Not interested in trades. I need cash. Let me know what
you're looking for. Almost all of this stuff will run Linux (not sure
about the VAX though).

Also have some other computer salvage hardware that I haven't
catalogued yet. When everything else is out, I'll post a list of what
is left. Though if you are feeling lucky, bring a truck & some cash to
my house and you might find hidden treasure in my crawlspace (there is
a lot down there, I kid you not).
