KDE 3.x comes with many jewels. A very interesting one is the fish kioslave.

Say you want to scp files between different machines. Open Konqueror and type 
this address:


fish://username@remotemachine.with.sshd.running.org


You will be prompted for your password at the remote machine. From that moment 
on, that Konqueror window will show toyr home directory at the remote 
machine. With an intelligent usage of "Window-> Split View Top/Bottom" and 
changing one of the views to your local home directory, you will be able to 
scp files between both machines.
