Dear Carly,

As a long time IT <Your Position>, I am disappointed in HP's lack of a 
clearly
defined position regarding SCO vs IBM/Linux law suite. As you know,
SCO is attempting to collect unfounded royalties from any organization
that is using any version of Linux that is based on the 2.4 kernel and 
above.
The position of HP regarding Linux has been favorable (And rightly so) for
several years now. Further, HP's support of open software has been of
great benefit to tens of thousands of companies all over the world.

As a leader in the open software community, HP is obligated to make a
public statement regarding the current SCO vs IBM/Linux law suit that
clearly defines HP's position and intentions regarding this litigation.
HP's lack of verbosity regarding this issue has been of benefit no one.
As I am sure you know, Intel has quitely withdrawn support for the up
coming SCO Forum 2003  Las Vegas Trade Show. Further, Intel is not
the only major industry player distancing themselves from SCO: They
are one of *many*.

It is my opinion as well as the opinion of other <Your Peers> that I know
that HP should seriously reconsider it's strategic business relationship
with SCO.
