Er, no thanks.  I am not doing a masqerade + firewall.  I am doing a dial-in 
server - need to control a box that's not on the net.  All the manuals/howtos 
are quite old (found a 2003 article that still refer to old ppp, modem, 
dialin howtos.  They refer to configuring the kernel for ip forwarding.  This 
has changed and I was wondering about the why and how at the kernel level.  I 
don't really need port forwarding turned on - I will be talking to the server 
- no tthrough the server.  I just found the difference at the kernel level 
and am chasing down the reasons out of curiosity.
