I use dyndns.org and find it quite reliable. There are a number of
clients to run on your linux machine to keep your ip up to date
automatically: ez-ipupdate, ipcheck
I use ipcheck (debian: apt-get install ipcheck), the configuration is
quite simple--setup a cron job with a command similar to the following:
/usr/sbin/ipcheck.py -d /var/ipcheck -l -r checkip.dyndns.org:8245 username \
password myhost.homelinux.net
I believe I run this every hour since it's just a mail server, but you
could run as often as you like. It will only update the IP if it's
changed or if it needs "freshened" to remain active at dyndns.org. I
have a CNAME point to my dyndns entry.

I currently use Domain Monger ( http://www.domainmonger.com ). Their
interface isn't wonderful, but they're cheap at $17/yr (less if you pay
several years at a time). Their interface is also a bit of a kludge,
but it works, which I couldn't say for my experiences with Register.com
and Networksolutions.com.
