Ok, I feel stupid now. I'm trying to write a little script on my
laptop to change my network settings from the stuff I need
for the office, to what I need for home. So, I created separate
versions of ifcfg-eth0 named ifcfg-eth0.home and ifcfg-eth0.vds
and versions of network named network.vds and network.home.

My script then copies the files for the location I'm at, over
/etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
respectively, then takes eth0 down and back up.

I would have thought this approach would work, but it turns out,
it doesn't. After downing and bring the interface back up, it still
has the old settings. Even rebooting with the new files in place
doesn't change it.

Any help would be appreciated... I thought
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*
was where those settings were stored... was I wrong, or is there just
something
else I'm missing?

Thanks,
