[TriLUG] Debian on Dell

I'm curious about this thread.  If Debian is simply desired (not an 
immovable project spec), why go to the trouble of figuring out the Dell 
hardware specs and whether those are supported under Debian?  Why not just 
get the machines from Dell with Red Hat preloaded?
