[TriLUG] Linux tool for editing windows shortcuts

I just recently created a login.bat file on my samba server that
automatically created a URL link on a users desktop at login, the
<blah>.lnk file was just a text file:

<snip>

[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://www.scosucks.com
Modified=00DE38E92A05C401F3

</snip>

Apparently that only applies to URL links, program links do not appear
to be editable in a standard text editor.
