Actually, that's not completely true.  Lake Wheeler does allow alcohol
in the conference room/deck area if you get a proper permit and have an
off-duty police officer there for security.  This is unlike state parks,
that don't allow alcohol under any circumstances.  However the rentals
and security requirements can be costly.  See
