Make a new folder, grab your gallery files and stuff them into it. You might
have to change the configuration of gallery to change the root location  IE
www.mysite.com becomes www.mysite.com/gallery/ but everything should still
work fine. Just rerun the configuration script. Then install your cms to the
root and link to or import gallery as Jeremy suggests. Shouldn't lose
anything that way as all of galleries files are pretty self contained.

Thanks for the reply Dave/Jeremy (i apolgize but I am not quite sure how to
respond to your replies just yet). It sounds like I can at least go ahead
with the install. phpwebsite wants to be put in /var/www/html which is where
gallery is...I was afraid that if I didn't put phpws there it would not work
and if I did I would break gallery.  It's a brave new world...at least for
me.
