[TriLUG] console/init logging question

Hi,

I am in the process of trying to get my 8.0 Redhat to run the 2.6.9
kernel. I can get it going, but notice some console logs during init
that I want to resolve. The problem is I see them going by, but dmesg &
/var/log/message doesn't fully capture what is going on.

When I use dmesg I see the following:

RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem).
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_delete_timer
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_report_device_reset
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_remove_host
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_report_bus_reset
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_partsize
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_host_put
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_scan_host
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_add_host
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_add_timer
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_adjust_queue_depth
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_unblock_requests
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_bios_ptable
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_block_requests
aic7xxx: Unknown symbol scsi_host_alloc
EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem.

However, after eyeballing this "going by" during the init, there is a
message in there that says something about insmod failing and
/lib/aic7xxx. I don't see reference to this in /var/log/message,
/var/log/boot, nor dmesg. How can I view what I saw going by?

Thanks!

Morris

PS I expect the above has something to do with the way mkinitrd was run,
but one problem at a time.
