I had trouble with cups on fc3 also.  I was trying to print to a
remote smb printer using cups ( if anybody is interested, smbprint
worked but printing through cups did not, so it was a cups problem).

I posted a question about it but didn't get any solutions.  I went
back to fc2 and cups worked fine.

fc2 reports cups-1.1.20-10.11 .
