Brian's recommendation on starting the tftp and THEN powering on the WRT54G 
is going to help you immensely.

Also, don't forget to set the rexmt value to 1 within tftp, causing it to 
attempt every second. 

Between these two tweaks, even you should be able to do this. ;-)
