I've been running AMD CPUs for the lsat 4 or 5 years. Only time I've
had an issue was when I bought a cheap-ass PCChips AMD K6 Mobo. Damn
thing never worked right, so I got rid of it and bought an Asus mobo.
Have been running an Asus A7S333 with an Athlon 2000 in it for the last
3 years or so without issue.

I'd like to move up to a 64 bit system next time I rebuild my desktop at
home.
