[TriLUG] DVD video frame extraction

I've got some DVDs from a company called Spacecraft Films which
digitizes archival NASA footage and puts it on DVD.

I've found a few sequences which have imagery that I've been unable to
find in still pictures, and I'd like to be able to extract still
images of as high a quality as possible.

Does anyone know if there are any FOSS applications/tools which can
extract a frame from a DVD to a jpeg/png etc?
