ah, no I didn't. I couldn't find anything that would parse 
--prefix anywhere in the code (I grep'ed all over the place 
for "prefix"). There being a site.cfg which seemed to 
configure things, I assumed there was some other mechanism 
for setting --prefix.

But I just tried your suggestion and it worked. Thanks. I 
guess the code that parses "prefix" is way down deep 
somewhere.
