The only reason this is true, though, is because the state has
not managed it's growth well and as a result the public transportation
system is a joke.  If there were good public transportation alternatives
to cars a gas tax wouldn't be so bad.  As it is now, however, wild,
unchecked growth forces people to have and use cars.

Also, if there were better public transportation alternatives you wouldn't
need so many highways or tollways.
