Yeah, that phone number thing is B.S.  They *want* it, but if you 
push-back, 99.9% of the time, they'll
cave in.  After all, they know just as well as we do that even if the 
system requires *something* be
entered, there's no way to validate it.  I've been known to answer 
999-666-1234 before when
asked that crap.  I know it's fake, they know it's fake, but nobody 
really cares. :-)

As far as the door thing, let me clarify:  I do respect their right to 
*ask*
me to submit to inspection on the way out the door.  But I also realize 
that in a sense,
"everything is negotiable."  If they ask me to let them check my bags or 
whatever
and I just say "no thanks" and keep walking, 100% of the time (so far) I get
an angry glare, some muttering under the breathe, and that's it.  Again, 
I figure
if they think it's important enough, they'll have somebody try to physically
restrain me. But in reality we both know they're just going to go there. 
It pisses them
off when people do that, but they know they can't start tackling 
everybody that tries to
walk out without letting them check their receipt.
