That's what I'm thinking I'll do - mirror what's relevant to get things
up and running fairly quickly.

Mine's not just television, which is why I'm concerned about losing
stuff. I have all our frequently used DVD's ripped to the drive, and
have been working away at transcoding them into avi files containing
just the important titles and chapters, and deinterlacing them where
relevant. If you've ever done that with children's animated stuff you'll
know that it can be a real pain. That's why it's not critical, but I
would prefer not to lose it.
