Someone mentioned that ebay was offering these keys for 
authentication.

In principle I expect the one I have from work would do, for 
any vendor, except that ebay would have to have some proof 
of who I am. Just the serial number is not going to do it (I 
would hope). If every bank, ebay, gas station start using 
these, are you going to be carrying only one of them, or is 
each vendor going to expect you to pay $50 for their's and 
you'll be carrying around a bucket full of them?

(Yes I remember the ones about 5 credit cards thick with a 
crushable glass window).
