[TriLUG] rdesktop any good?

Have you considered NX from No Machine? (http://www.nomachine.com).  Their
product is really cross platform.  It connects to VNC, RDP and X Server and
the client runs on Win, Linux, and Mac.  Their NX protocol is their claim to
fame, and they're redeploying rdesktop under the covers using that
protocol.  I've been using NX for years to connect to XP and Windows server
boxes.
