   You need to become very good at finding out how much memory
programs use. For example (I just fired up Ubuntu 7.10, all I have
here at work) Gnome Terminal on Gnome System Monitor shows a memory
size of 12.6 MEGs (right, MEGS) for a terminal. I tend to use rxvt for
my terminals which only needs 382K. Under 'top' and the RES,
gnome-terminal shows 11 Megs of ram.
