I'm using a couple of Nvidia 7300LE cards. Both are branded under
another company, both have 128MB RAM, one is fanless. They were each
about under $50, probably more like $25 on Newegg. They run everything
fine, including Compiz.
The only problem I've ever had is using the Nvidia binary driver. I
haven't had any problems in awhile, but the drivers used to prevent
resume-from-suspend. I'd love to have an Intel video card. The
integrated Intel video chips I've used are awesome and the driver is
both open and rock solid. I have no idea if Intel makes a discrete
card, though.
