I think Weather Underground is one of the big sites that collect and
disseminate sensor data from personally owned stations, but it has changed
from being a community program to a commercial operation. The wikipedia
article is pretty good:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_weather_station and lists most of the
station manufacturers and a couple of 'uploaders' for linux.
