I'm gonna guess the following.
1. Trilug rejects mail unless your authenticated, and I'd hope we  
force tls/ssl connections
2. Trilug uses a self-signed certificate
3. Your blackberry will fail with said self signed certificate.

I found the setup of mail on most phones leaves a lot to be desired.
