HPNA Technical Solutions Consultant

The Technical Solutions Consultant (TSC) position is a software
support position for Hewlett Packard's Network Automation application
(HP NA). HP NA is a NCCM (network change and configuration management
software) that helps companies automate the change management of their
large networks (configuration changes, OS upgrades, policy compliance,
security vulnerability patching, etc.). HP NA runs on Windows, Linux,
and Solaris, and uses MySQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle databases. HP
NA supports the management of network devices for over fifty vendors.
For more information on HP NA:
https://h10078.www1.hp.com/cda/hpms/display/main/hpms_content.jsp?zn=bto&cp=1-11-271-273^14681_4000_100__

A HP NA TSC would be expected to work customer tickets through our
ticketing system and communciate solutions to end users via email and
telephone. There is a lab environment to reproduce customer issues,
test, and train. Eventually, the expectation is that an HPNA TSC
would be involved with process development, training, knowledge base
documentation, new hire mentoring, and other special projects. There
is no travel involved. We use a follow-the-sun model as well as an
on-call rotation for weekend coverage during local daytime hours.

The HPNA TSC position requires a high level of problem solving skills
and self-motivation to learn complex software. The ideal candidate
will be proficient in the following areas (in order of importance):

    * Networking: WAN/LAN concepts, and troubleshooting
    * OS Systems: Understand administration of Solaris, Linux & Windows
    * Database: SQL/performance/administration
    * Programming/Scripting: ability to read, and debug
Java/JavaScript/Perl/Expect
    * Network Security: encryption/authentication

The preference is to have a candidate with an in-depth understanding
in at least two of these areas and a basic knowledge/understanding of
all five. Previous support experience and good "soft skills" are a
definite plus. Ultimately, we would like to find a highly motivated
candidate with a strong technical base, who understands how to work as
a part of a team, and who interfaces well with customers. This
product has a steep learning curve, and would be well received by a
candidate who is self motivated and has a strong desire to learn.

If interested, please don't hesitate, as I think that this req will
disappear very soon if not filled. You can send your resume,
questions, and contact info to me at hpna at hp.com

Thanks,
Marshall
