Thanks to everyone for the interest. I have unicasted an email to a few folks already, but it appears others are interested. So, here is the skinny:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My partner and I have three data center racks here in Raleigh (one at Peak-10 off Airport Blvd, one at Hosted Solutions in Cary, and one at Hosted Solutions in N Raleigh). All of our racks have dual power feeds with redundant network drops, and we use Cisco 3560G switches as our core backbone. Currently, we are supporting two customers (QA/Dev/Test in Cary and production in Raleigh). We have plenty of space and bandwidth available (100Mbps burst) in either location.
Our cost from the data center is about $60/RU (includes rack space and dual power feeds), and we are charged separately for network connectivity (based upon how many Mbps we use per month). This is a top-tier data center with 24/7/365 power, network, and high-level security (definitely not a mom-n-pop shop). We have badges for entry and must pass a fingerprint scanner before gaining access to our racks. Our cabinets are locked 24/7, and security guards routinely walk through the facility.
It seems lots of people need only 1-or-2 RU of space but the cost of getting into a real data center is too much. This is where we can help. We are not looking to make a bunch of money on this - just mainly helping out other guys who need such a facility. This all started with our first customer who needed a data-center footprint and we just built out from there...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did not mean this as an advertisement - just thought I could help out some other Linux guys out there.
