For those at the last TriLUG meeting last week, I was the one that announced that NetApp is hiring 5 QA developers and a QA manager for the RTP area. We already have QA here as well as QA scattered around in our Pittsburgh and Sunnyvale sites, but the goal now is to build a new, dedicated, team to testing just the interconnect side of our product.

I previously posted here looking for developers in the interconnect and I think I posted a short description then, but basically the work I do is writing the FreeBSD device drivers for the very fast (typically short range) network that keeps two filers in sync with each other so that if one fails, the other can kick in and take over. In the past we have relied on QA efforts in Sunnyvale to test this part of our product, but we want a team locally that can dig in and understand the details about it and write tests for it.

So if you are the type of person who can set up a network, tear it down, analyze faults in it, and can explain to development what you found, then please read on. Since much of the testing is automated, we also need someone who is very comfortable with scripting languages - typically Perl or Python, although others may be useful as well. You will be responsible for talking to product managers, developers, and even reading through the requirement documents to understand how a product should work, and then verifying it meets those requirements by writing automated tests, or conducting manual tests.

NetApp is a great place to work and it was just announced today that we are once again in the top 10 best companies to work for in the US (coming in at #5).

I have included the official 'HR' job posting for both the developer and the management job, but please let me know if you have any specific comments or questions about the positions. The job numbers for the open QA developer/manager positions (plus a still open developer position in my team) are:

     12115BR - Software QA Manager
12111BR - Software QA Engineer- Networking
12110BR - Software QA Engineer- Automation
     12087BR - Software Engineer - Networking

In each case, the NetApp recruiter is the same - April Lafforthun - and you can either contact her directly, apply through the NetApp online system, or send your resume to me directly.

Thanx,
Rodney
