I definitely second this suggestion.

While it may behoove one to learn the syntax of the more canonical DNS 
solutions, dnsmasq has a simple syntax, is *well* documented, and 
elegantly ties in with DHCP (if warranted).  Though dnsmasq does work 
well for many corporate environments it's also friendly for simple home 
setups.

Dnsmasq +1 for home use.
