[TriLUG] Slightly OT: Desktop or laptop donation needed

I'm calling out to you geeks trying to help a friend of mine. She's a
single mother of 10 children that she's trying to raise herself. She's
attempting to take an online class to improve her skills and therefore
earning potential, but she doesn't have a computer fast or modern enough to
run the Flash (9 or later) that's required by the course. Does anyone have
a working 3-5 year old desktop or laptop that they're willing to donate? I
can get a tax deductible receipt for it through my Church, so a corporate
donation would be fine.

If no one has a complete system, maybe we can upgrade the old beast: I'd be
looking for parts to upgrade a Dell OptiPlex GX260 (service tag 3WHK221).
It's got a 40GB EIDE HDD, 256 MB RAM, and an Intel 2.0GHz Northwood Celeron
Processor. If you have compatible parts sitting around, let me know.

I'm in South Durham, but am traveling to Raleigh tomorrow, so I could meet
you anywhere in the Triangle to pick it up.

Replies off list, please.

Thanks,
Joseph Tate
