This is a key point!
It's one of the reasons I went with an HP N40L that can run any OS I'd
like without limitations. I paid $192 shipped.

Excellent point that I hadn't considered. Using an additional machine
that isn't directly exposed to the outside world through a directly
connected interface is at least another layer of security.
