Mark,

Jason's reply rekindled remembrances of the introduction of jre-6u24 
where I discovered I couldn't cut and paste within Java.  Googled the 
link below:

Most relevant is to add:

        permission java.awt.AWTPermission "accessClipboard";

to /opt/java/jre/lib/security/java.policy
