I use Xfce when it works, and use (the ultimately reliable) LXDE when
Xfce starts acting weird. I also use UMENU
(http://www.troubleshooters.com/umenu/) to as a keyboard driven,
any-wm hierarchical menu system. After hearing good things about
Enlightenment, I'm going to be auditioning that.
Window manager/desktops I *don't* like include: KDE, Gnome3, Unity,
the thing they use for Mint, Windows 7, and Windows 8. I also don't
like the WM's requiring clicking on the desktop, because I often have
10 apps open on a particular workspace. I actually like WMs that act
like Win98's window manager.
