Back around 2000 when I took a networking course, the instructor declared ipv6 a pipe dream that would never happen, because the big fear of the internet running out of ip addresses was solved using routing and private networks.
Soooooooooooo, My question is: What advantages does ipv6 have over ipv4?
I have never really investigated it before and it has been around for a long time and seems to be getting some actual use in the past few years, so Why would someone go through the effort? There must be a reason.
Thanks,
