I had similar problems with the UBee modem TWC gave me when I upgraded 
my speed.  First thing I did was google it and learn how to flip it into 
bridged mode.  Even then, it kept locking up every few days.  On the 
second tech visit, I asked the guy to replace it and he asked me if I 
wanted another UBee or a Motorola.  I asked him what the UBee was good 
for and he said you need it if you have TWC phone service.  I told him, 
'Give me a motorola!' and was happy with my service until I moved out of 
the state last May.
