By default that's true, but OpenDNS is highly configurable. You can turn
off content filtering/logging/nxdomain redirection and many other
features for requests from your IP.

There's lots of upsides and downsides to choosing to run your own DNS
recursive resolver vs using public servers, but OpenDNS is a decent
option for many people if you configure it to your liking.
