I second the vote for a Chrome cast dongle: it works well for me.

I tried an Amazon Fire box and sent it back. Too hard to use and tied too tightly to Amazon. Some functions just didn't work. Chrome cast works better and is much cheaper. If you can view in your Android, you can "fling" the program to your TV. While I've not tried it, you should also be able to do the same from a Linux box on your WiFi network using the chrome browser.

My minor difficulty was needing a third HDMI connection on my TV, but it only has two. Problem solved with a splitter/switch to choose which stream to feed to the TV. It's even got it's own remote! I also added an HDMI extension to bring the stuff to the front, i.e., the sensor for the remote switch. Had to make sure the cable had the correct "gender," double male (plugs) add I recall.
