Thanks, found the code
It was pactl set-sink-volume 0 +/- 5%.
I saw i3 settings and tried it on unity and it worked. I had to tweak the
command by changing the value from 0 to 1 as it assumed 0 for HDMI output
and 1 for laptop speakers
