[TriLUG] Have A Job

I'd like to offer a different perspective regarding this "feature" of
the list operation.

As many times as I have been burned and embarrassed by an unintentional
"reply all", in the case of the TriLUG list behavior it once provided a
tremendous benefit.

Over 15 years ago there was a thread much like this one where a LUGger
was soliciting resumes for a job offering. I was job hunting at the
time (recall the dot com crash?) and responded with a summary of
qualifications, along with a PDF resume.

In the course of deleting and re-writing that email a few times, I lost
track of what was on my "To" and "CC" lines and I spammed my resume out
to the whole list. I followed up with an apology when I realized it,
and worried that I'd failed test #1.
I didn't get an answer from the fellow who advertised that job.

However, a week or so later another LUGger decided to take a look at my
resume. He found that I had specific experience that was relevant to
his employer's project. He showed it to his management, and they
decided to call me in for an interview.

As a direct result of that flub, I've been writing software for Linux,
for the same company* ever since. The "*" is there because the company
grew and split after a while, renamed, etc.

If there's a point to this email, it's that inadvertent acts (even dumb
seeming ones) can result in opportunities.
I still screw things up more often than I want to get into. After I get
over the pain I go back to see if there's anything useful in the debris.
