As some of you already know, I have been "volunteered" to herd cats this
year, since our previous catherd has had some work and other issues
prevent his returning to the fray.

I haven't been given my main ToDo book yet, but I will give you a bit of
head start on what I do know, so that you can get ready to join us.

The fun starts Thursday, June 7th, this year, with all of the setup
activities at the Sheraton Charlotte Airport.

Then we have full days Friday and Saturday, approximately 0800 through
1800, and then Sunday will be 08:30 through whenever cleanup is done.
Last year we seemed to be better organized than ever, and cleanup was
done before 1700.

However, before you run screaming for the hills, we try and book people
in "shifts," approximately four hours each, but flexibility is our
first name! We can take volunteers anywhere from one hour to five days!

The major activies are related to Registration Desk, Audio Visual and
the famous Other.

Separate from those are Setup and Teardown ( cleanup ).

Registration will get started some time before the beginning of the
first session, Friday at 9am, so probably about 8, possibly late
Thursday afternoon. ( This is just me talking, not the organizers. )

Registration activities are generally done by the end of Saturday, but
does require an "attendant" throughout the conference.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Oh, yes. One little thing that I forgot. Volunteers, in the past, have
generally got the same benefits as a "Paid Attendee," plus a bit more.

OK, on to other information.

If you are planning to Volunteer, Do Not use the Registration form, but
instead, use the Volunteer form, found at:
http://www.southeastlinuxfest.org/?page_id=59

However, the Reistration Information page has useful information, too,
at: http://www.southeastlinuxfest.org/?page_id=4608, with the Agenda
being at: http://www.southeastlinuxfest.org/pdfs/SELF-2018-Schedule.pdf

As I know more, I will write again.

Thank you,
Brian
