[TriLUG] WiFi Thermostat Recommendations.

Been investigating home automation and capabilities for the house.   I 
do not want devices at the house that require/utilize services outside 
the house.  No Google home, Alexas....  or other cloud based services.  
All tech must operates within home network.

My programmable thermostat might be the first to be replaced.   Current 
thermostat is non-Wifi.  It loses it's programming everytime the battery 
is replaced (about yearly).

My parameters are
     Wifi preferred.  Although Bluetooth,  zigbee ...., might be 
possible.
     Does not require a Cloud service, even if just for setup.
     Does not require a special hub/controller to manage it.
     If it has cloud capabilites, they can be disabled.
     Potentially controllable from android phone by an app on same 
network or close proximity (bluetooth) - Not Cloud.
     Possibility of being able to control it from an app on my linux 
server or laptop.

Now I know we have many people here who experiment in this realm.    
Looking for recommendations.
