Yes, I have been reading that, here.
I ran into the Snap "problem" with an earlier version of Ubuntu, which I
chose not to use.
I tend to prefer Debian over Ubuntu, because it seems a little less
overbearing.
I think that I will also look at Steve's suggestion.

I usually use DD for that. Just write the ISO to the USB stick.
