[TriLUG] Home VPN?

What I’m looking to do is to create some thing allows me to remote into my home network securely from outside to be able to do various things that would help troubleshoot or manage items like my kids lubuntu computer like ssh into it or access a file server or print something on the home printer.  I figure a von would be this entry point and be a bit more secure.  Besides it also sounded like a good project
