This a follow up to Tuesday's meeting about finding out resource names of
an application which you can set in your .Xdefaults file. The command is
editres. Run editres and click on an xterm. You'll see xterm has two
children, "shellext" and "vt100." Now select "Show Class Names" from the
"Tree" menu. You'll see the widget names replaced by their class names.
Click on an object in the tree, say vt100 and then select "Show Resource Box"
from the "Commands" menu and you'll see the resources for the object. This
does not provide you with the acceptable values for the resources, but you
can see the fully qualified resource path in dotted and starred notations.
Now try something more interesting. Select "Get Tree" fom the "Commands"
window and click on the editres app itself. You'll get a bigger tree of
window objects. There is a "panner" box right under the "Commands" menu.
Grab the rectangle in the panner and move it around to see the rest of the
tree.
When you get the feel for this, try getting the tree for Netscape!

Frank
