When you say resonable, do you mean free? :)  New car purchase comeing
soon, can't buy more toys for a while. :(

Oh, that does change things.  It looked like the array had a set of
trays that were linked with what looked like SCSI cables, so what you
have in mind might work.  You might need oddball cables, though.  Take a
look at that link I gave to the Sun handbook and see if you can make it
out.

In the end, I'm not sure that $300 for the JBOD you're looking at is
such a deal.  You would definately loose hardware RAID.
