At least where I work, we don't license project or visio for every 
person, so when those get mailed out, I just reply that I don't have the 
application.  We usually can work out a format that I can read, or it 
ends up being something I didn't want to see in the first place.


I'm also a big fan of this: 
http://www.goldmark.org/netrants/no-word/attach.html , Word is *not* a 
document exchange format. Its also incompatable between versions, and 
can cause real headaches for Document management administators.

I got a three paragraph memo emailed to me as a word attachement 
yesterday, the file was over 1M in size.

Think before you attach.
