Word blows serious grits for what I do.  I have no prob with *.sxw.

Rh-9.0 recognizes *.dwg yet can't display the location in nautilus.

Word is *not* a 
document exchange format. Its also incompatable between versions, and 
can cause real headaches for Document management administators.

I got a three paragraph memo emailed to me as a word attachement 
yesterday, the file was over 1M in size.
