Not quite.  You don't actually select "ALSA", you have to select
the correct ALSA kernel module for your sound card.  However, it
will only show you the modules that will work with your card and
all the alsa modules begin with "snd-".

But, basically, you run the Mandrake Control Center, select Hardware,
select Harddrake, under soundcard, select your sound card model,
select "Run Config Tool" and then select the alternate module.
It will tell you what you're currently running (and whether it's
OSS or ALSA) and allow you to select the alternate one.  Pick that,
and click ok.  Then, unfortunately, because of how sound modules
interact with the kernel (and the fact that getting them to unload
is a *major* pain), the easiest thing to do is just reboot. :-(

At the very least, you don't have to mess with changing your
/etc/modules.conf file...
