[TriLUG] OT: winmail.dat, finished

no skin off my nose. there's not a person out there with which i won't
engage in technical debate. at the end of the day, i'll sit down and
drink a cold one with anyone that cares to share the time.

<flame-shield>
my exchange server has now been modified to not send any exchange rtf
and to do all encoding in UUENCODE instead of MIME. *that* procedure
has apparently stopped the problem of winmail.dat and not exchange 2000
sp3 or any client procedures. many thanks to al at microsoft and joshua
right here at trilug for lots of time spent troubleshooting the problem.
</flame-shield>

so, as soon as the open source spec becomes ratified by all interested
parties, i'll officially move all Neuse River Network, Inc. server
services over to open source. i am too green at linux to do it without
help yet am willing to try.

besides, i can keep my microsoft stuff that works just fine waiting in
the wings in case of trouble :-)

Jim,

I commend you! You have taken the brunt of the flame, if not the
hottest part
of the fire due to this silly winmail.dat thing which exploded way out
of
proportion, yet, here we are, face to face with your desire to tackle
open
source. Bravo. I wish you the best in this endevour!

laters,
David M.
