I think you may have a good point there, all of my equipment runs
through a UPS or power conditioners. I have one switch at the house that
does not (due to location) and it requires a power cycle every now and
again, but my WAPs have always been reliable, Linksys or not.  Now that
UPSes are so cheap, I recommend one to all my customers for their home
computers and any valuable electronics.  Even if you don't need the
backup power, the line conditioning will make life easier on your power
supplies, and probably extends the life of your equipment.
